Berlin award boosts my confidence: Amir

'Mounam Pesiyadhae', 'Ram' and 'Paruthiveeran' are the three films directed by Amir in the last five years. Each of them is different from the other and the depth in thinking and the effort to present things differently is very tangible in all these films. 'Ram' got an award at the Cyprus Film Festival, and 'Paruthiveeran' didn’t lag behind. It has bagged the prestigious Jury’s award at the just concluded Berlin International Film Festival.

Ash signs Robot!

It’s now official. Aishwarya Rai has been signed up to be Rajinikanth's heroine in Shankar's big budget mega film Robot, being produced by Ayngaran International in association with Eros Entertainment. Aishwarya Rai has not only signed the deal but also received a whopping amount as advance (much more than any leading south Indian actress will get as their salary!) for a film.

Nayantara queening it up in Tamil cinema

The stunner from neighbouring Kerala, Nayantara , is literally queening it up in Tamil cinema. Nayan, whose spellbinding performance in Billa has mesmerised the Tamil film fans, is all set to do another movie with her Billa hero, Ajith. The grapevine has it that Nayan has been signed up for Ajit's next film, titled ‘Egan’, which will be directed by Raju Sundaram.

'Vannathuppoochi’ - A movie on children

Amidst a lot of mega budget extravaganzas that revolve around action, sentiment, and romance, here is a man, who tries to turn our attention towards finer elements of life. Finer elements like flowers, butterflies and children. C. Azhagappan, who has been working as an assistant to Kamal Haasan, has been making a film titled ‘Vannathupoochi’ on children with a story that sensitively focuses on their world. He also looks into the way we treat the children and how we relate with them.

Tabu or Simran?

It seems Tabu and Simran are vying with each other to play the lead in 'Vaaranamaayiram'. Both actresses have made a name for themselves in commercial and art cinema. Both have dedicated fan-followings. But what sets Tabu apart from Simran? Simran got married, Tabu did not. But still, Tabu took a break from cinema and is now making a comeback (remember Cheeni Kum?).

Ricky Martin sings only in Spanish but I can sing in Tamil: Sukhwinder Singh

I had to narrate Chaiyya Chaiyya in English to him. While Rahman did not understand Hindi at all, I did not understand a word of English or Tamil. In fact after I wrote the first draft, Mani Ratnam felt that the song did not work out the way he wanted and walked out. It was only after some one explained to him correctly that he okayed the song for the film.

Siddharth: I am not attached to anything

I have achieved critical and mass acceptance in Telugu. It is hugely satisfying because I have done it my way, and have done so in an industry considered to be very hostile to male actors from outside the state. However, my fans there have never once let me feel like a Tamilian. I am and always will be their very own Telugu boy.

I can look glamorous too: Neetu Chandra

Neetu Chandra stepped into the world of cinema with a comic flick “Garam Mashala” but there her character was not comic at all. But with her new venture “One Two Three” she is ready to give you all a comic jerk. Besides these films there is the Tamil version of “Flat Number 13B”. I am playing the lead in all other movies except “One Two Three”.

While the cast and crew of the movie are yet to be decided, Balu has selected Nagma as the heroine. Nagma, the erstwhile sex bomb and the leading heroine of Kollywood, has been busy in Bhojpuri films, for quite some time now.
